Press Release (9/19/08) LOCAL COMPANY GETS HANDS IN NATIONAL POLITICS
“Our company has been in business for 42 years, and my wife and I have owned it for 21, and this is definitely the most exciting response we have received for any new product introduction ever,” said Kim Calkins, Princess President. The Face Wavers are an extension of a line originally designed for sports teams, so fans in the stands can wave a Waver representing either the team’s colors or its mascot or its key players. The company has applied for a design patent for this concept and the printing method used to accurately reproduce a photograph on fabric that is then sewn into a Waver. Some people refer to them as puppets, and they certainly are similar, but the functional purpose for them is to be waved at a sports event, concert or in this case, a political rally. Maureen Whaley, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Princess Sports and Entertainment Division was able to hand one of the McCain Wavers directly to John McCain who waved it to the crowd. “The big grin on his face told all of us he was pleased with our McCain Waver and how it represented him so well,” said Maureen. “This line of Face and Celebrity Wavers is going to be HUGE!” The McCain Wavers were originally designed for the Minnesota Delegation to the Republican Convention to wave during McCain’s nomination proceedings. It was widely believed that Tim Pawlenty was going to be selected as McCain’s running mate, so the printing had been completed on Pawlenty Wavers, but the company did not complete the sewing and waited for the VP nominee’s name to be announced just a few days before the convention. They weren’t prepared for the Palin announcement, and were not able to convert the Pawlenty Wavers into Palin Wavers. For today’s rally, however, the Palin Wavers were being waved by a number of supporters and her red suit stood out on the Wavers, just as her presence at the rally caused such excitement. “We are very proud to have created these Wavers to represent two such impressive candidates in this national election,” commented Sandy Calkins, Princess CEO. “We couldn’t have asked for a more positive response to our designs.”
